Burbank and Glendale: LA's Entertainment-Industry-Adjacent Neighborhoods

Home to some of LA's biggest studio lots, Burbank and Glendale offer a genuinely different housing calculus for entertainment workers.

Burbank and Glendale sit just north of central LA and host some of the entertainment industry's largest studio lots, which shapes their housing markets more directly than most LA neighborhoods are shaped by a single industry.

Burbank itself hosts Warner Bros., Disney, and NBCUniversal's major lots — for anyone working at or around these studios, a short Burbank commute is a real, tangible advantage worth the area's correspondingly real premium.

Glendale, just southwest, offers a similar commute radius to the same studio cluster with a somewhat different, more residential character and typically a bit more breathing room on price.

The NoHo Arts District, technically part of North Hollywood but immediately adjacent, adds a walkable arts-and-theater scene to the mix if that's part of what you're looking for beyond just commute proximity.

Freeway access is genuinely strong from both cities toward the rest of LA — the 5, 134, and 101 all converge in this area, useful if your work isn't fixed to a single studio lot.

For entertainment-industry freelancers and gig workers specifically, see housing considerations for irregular income — traditional income verification doesn't always map cleanly onto project-based industry work.
